Owner/Director and Principal Ophthalmic Surgeon. Dr Smith attended Sydney High School. He graduated in medicine at Sydney University and completed a degree in computer science, mathematics and physics at the University of New South Wales.
He trained in Ophthalmology at St Thomas' Hospital London and The Royal Victorian Eye Hospital Melbourne.
Memberships include the American Academy of Ophthalmology, the Australasian, American, European and International Societies of Cataract and Refractive Surgery and the Australasian Academy of Facial Plastic Surgery.
He was inaugural chairman of The Ophthalmic Day Surgery Centres Association and is the Ophthalmology representative on the National Day Surgery Committee.Dr Smith was the Australian representative at the IMPACT 2000 international forum on cataract and refractive surgery. Dr Smith is a general ophthalmologist with subspecialty expertise in cataract and refractive surgery.
Dr Smith and Dr Kearns established the Sydney Eye Specialist Centre in 1985. It is one of first independent eye surgery centres in Australia.
Dr Margaret Kearns MB BS, DO, FRACS, FRANZCO Owner/Director and Principal Ophthalmic Surgeon. Dr Kearns graduated in Medicine from Sydney University. She trained in Ophthalmology at Sydney Eye Hospital. She did a post-graduate Fellowship at Hammersmith and Moorefields Hospitals in London. Dr Kearns is a member of the American Academy of Ophthalmology and the Australasian, American, European and International Societies of Cataract and Refractive Surgery. She is a Visiting Specialist at The Royal Prince Alfred Hospital and has served a four year term as head of The Department of Ophthalmology. Dr Kearns is a general ophthalmologist with subspecialty expertise in cataract and refractive surgery. |
