Blepharoplasty

Before the Surgery

  • Please arrange an escort to take you home. As you will be having intravenous sedation you will not be able to drive yourself home after your surgery. You will also need to fast for 6 hours prior to your scheduled surgery.
  • Do not wear make-up, perfume or aftershave. Wash you hair on the day of surgery and wear clean, comfortable clothing covering arms and legs as you will not get changed.
  • Arrive 1 hour prior to your scheduled procedure.
  • Sutures needing removal will be removed 1 to 2 weeks after surgery.

After the Surgery

  • If your eye is padded, leave the pad on until your visit the day after surgery.
  • The Ice packs are used for the first 6 hours after surgery.
  • The ice packs should be placed in the freezer for approximately 30 minutes prior to use. Once cold, cover the ice pack with sterile gauze and place the pack across both eyes. Leave it on for approximately 10-20 minutes or while it remains cold. Place the first pack back in the freezer and replace it with second pack. Repeat this procedure as often as you can in the first 6 hours.
  • Panadol or Nurofen can be taken if needed for pain.
