Dr John Elder

Dr John Elder has practiced in Sydney since 1976, specialising in cataract and refractive surgery. He is recognised as a pioneer of ophthalmic day surgery in Australia.
Having completed specialist training in the UK and USA he established the first ophthalmic day surgery at Elder Eye Clinic, Bondi Junction (later Sydney Eye Clinic, Darlinghurst) where he was Principal Surgeon and Director.
Dr Elder is a fellow of the Royal Australian and New Zealand College of Ophthalmologists and a foundation Member of the Australian Society of Cataract and Refractive Surgeons, he participates in teaching, mentoring and practicing the latest techniques in cataract surgery.
He is actively involved with ophthalmologist training in developing countries. His passionate goal is to improve the sight of all Australians.
Dr Elder made the decision to join the team at The Sydney Eye Specialist Centre because he respects their competence and dedication to shared ideals.
