Refractive and cataract surgery update in Prague Feb 2012

Dr Richard Smith and Dr Margaret Kearns braved sub-zero temperatures to attend and contribute to the European Cataract and Refractive Surgery Society meeting in Prague in February 2012.

This was an important update and we provided presentations on our results of aspheric intra-ocular lens implantation for cataract and trans PRK for correction of myopia, astigmatism and hyperopia.

New IT System

We have implemented total computer records, both administrative and clinical. Our high tech imaging instruments are interfaced to this system and it can be accessed from our Kingsford and Double Bay locations.

It represents a huge improvement in efficiency and eliminates huge banks of paper files which have been scanned into the new system.

We are building a beautiful new facility at Kingsford

We closed our Middle Street Kingsford centre on 14 December 2011 for rebuilding after 26 years of continuous service.

We anticipate recommencement of operating and laser treatments by April and full completion in June 2012.

We look forward to providing a new level of service and technology.

Our refractive lasers

We have had our fifth generation lasers for nearly a year now. They remain current top models.

The Schwind Amaris 750S excimer laser does superb precise no-touch trans PRK and the corneal reshaping component of LASIK.

The Zeimer 500 kHz femtosecond laser creates corneal flaps for bladeless LASIK procedures.
